Changing the Inputs

Updated: Jul 2

We learned in the Bad Functions blog that a function runs as long as it receives compatible inputs. Inputs come from the external environment that we live in every day. They are the things that we see, hear, taste, touch, and smell. They are the places we hang out, the people we talk to, the shows we watch, etc.

Inputs program our minds and affect how and what we think about ourselves, others, and situations.

We also learned that as long as a function receives compatible inputs, then it will run endlessly to produce the same type of output. Now, you may have identified where there are some bad functions running in your life, and you want to see them recoded.

The first step is to acknowledge that you need help. Confess that you are a sinner and acknowledge that you need the help of the Lord Jesus Christ to save and cleanse you. Then, repent which means to turn away from that life.

“If we claim we have no sin, we are only fooling ourselves and not living in the truth. But if we confess our sins to him, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all wickedness.”

‭‭1 John‬ ‭1‬:‭8‬-‭9‬ ‭NLT‬‬

Jesus Christ is the Word of life. He is the living word of God. He is the source code and the only one that can rewrite the programs in our lives.

Next, we must change our inputs. This is called sanctification. Sanctification means to be set apart, to be separate, to observe as holy. Therefore, we no longer engage with the same inputs of the world. We must change our environment. Change our social groups. Change our source of entertainment. When we make the decision to change, the inputs change, then the functions are no longer able to run because the inputs are no longer compatible.

Jesus will then begin to rewrite the programs in our minds with His word as we study it. He will begin to clean out and remove those bad functions from our lives. Jesus performs an internal work. He cleans us from the inside out.

Isaiah 1:18 says, “Come now, and let us reason together,” saith the Lord. “Though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool."

Isn't that amazing! Your mind can be cleansed. Your thoughts can be cleansed. Your heart can be cleansed and made as white as snow.

Submit to the cleansing today.
