8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. You are sinners, so clean sin out of your lives. You are trying to follow God and the world at the same time. Make your thinking pure. James 4:8

As women and young women, we have so many responsibilities, obligations, and tasks to complete daily. There are many ways we can become distracted from our walk with Jesus especially if we do not make our walk a priority. The lesson of intentionality and consistency can be applied to every area of your life.

As college students, you must go to class and set time aside to study for each class. You must plan out your course work to complete the requirements for your major and your minor. You should research extra curriculum clubs and organizations to join to enhance your college experience. You do all these activities to have a successful college experience. But have you set time aside to be purified, washed, and cleansed by the word God? If not, it is ok because you can start today by honestly answering the question below.

How can you become more intentional and consistent with the time you spend with God through Jesus Christ?

4 Stay joined to me and I will stay joined to you. No branch can produce fruit alone. It must stay connected to the vine. It is the same with you. You cannot produce fruit alone. You must stay joined to me. 5 “I am the vine, and you are the branches. If you stay joined to me, and I to you, you will produce plenty of fruit. But separated from me you will not be able to do anything. John 15:4-5

Below you will find some practical ways to draw near to God and stay connected to him in daily fellowship.

· Be intentional to pray - Set time apart throughout the day to spend with Jesus through prayer

· Be intentional to share the gospel - Share the gospel with friends through small study groups

· Be intentional to stay connected - Fellowship with the saints by coming to church

· Be consistent in prayer - Set early morning prayer times to give the Lord the first fruit of your day

· Be consistent in praise - Play praise and worship music throughout your day

· Be consistent in reading your word - Set a time to read your word morning, noon and night.

Stay connected to Jesus by being intentional and consistent in your walk with the Lord Jesus Christ. Come near to God and he will come near to you.

Now let us close out in a word of prayer:

Father God, in the name of Jesus, please forgive me of all my sins. I am/ have accepted you as my Lord and Savior. I confess to you that I get distracted some times with many activities. I turn to you today asking you to help me re-focus my mind on you. Thank you for teaching me your ways through daily reading of your word. I seek your will for my life through daily prayer. I re-dedicate myself to you through seeking you daily. I thank you today for the love and mercy you have shown me throughout my life. Thank you for your favor. From this day going forward, I will seek you with all my heart. I love you Lord and I worship you Jesus. Amen
