In the Eye of the Storm

We are in a time of great uncertainty. The government has undergone the longest shut down in history. The job market is full of confusion as thousands are furloughed and being let go. Prices for necessities like food are on the rise. And as a college student, I know this can feel daunting to know that you will soon graduate and be forced into this matrix of life.
But I am here to tell you, there is only ONE way to have peace in this storm and that is through Jesus Christ. The Bible says, “and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7 NKJV).
Here are some synonyms for peace: tranquility, calmness, stillness, security, contentment.
Peace is ONLY found in Jesus Christ; it is a fruit of the Holy Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23). The scripture says that the peace of God will protect your heart and mind, so if you are anxious, depressed, confused, concerned, etc. then you do not have the peace of God protecting your heart and mind.
Why?
Your mind is focused on your surroundings and things on earth instead of on things above in the heavenlies where Christ is living with the Father (Colossians 3:2). When we keep our minds focused on Jesus Christ, then we have security and know that He will watch over us and take care of us no matter the situation.
How do you practically focus your mind on things above?
The Bible tells us in Philippians 4:8, “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.”
There is only ONE source that is full of true, noble, just, pure, lovely, good, virtuous, and praiseworthy things.
THE BIBLE!
Let’s think about this!
Can we agree that the devil is the opposite of God? So, if God is true, then the devil is a liar. The Bible also says that the devil is the god of this world (2 Corinthians 4:4). Therefore, anything relating to this world is a lie. There is no gray area. If it is not true, then it must be a lie. Right?
John 8:32 KJV says, “And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.” If the truth makes you free, then a lie makes you bond. Now, we can see why there are so many things trying to keep you focused on this world. Because if you believe and trust in a lie, then you will become more and more bond. More and more anxious. More and more depressed. More and more lonely.
STOP THE CYCLE!
Now, it is time to turn to God and ask Him to reveal the truth to you so that you can be made free. If you go back and forth, then you confuse your mind with truth and lies. For example, you read your Bible in the morning, but then that evening, you watch a movie with cussing, fornication, and gossip. The Bible says that you will become double-minded, unstable in all your ways, and you won’t receive anything from God (James 1:7-8).
That is why some of you are having a hard time hearing from God or don’t know the next steps to take. God can’t trust an unstable person. He wants you to commit your entire life to Him.
Finally, when you ask Him to reveal the truth, this is not a generic truth we are talking about. It is the truth about YOU! Ask God to show you what about you He is not pleased with. Ask Him to show you what things about your life, that you think are nothing, are SIN to Him.
Ask, and be willing to repent and change. Now is the time! He will forgive you and make you free. This world is going to get even more crazy; you need the peace of God, but it only happens when you are in right standing with God through Jesus Christ.
I pray you get right with Him today!
Be blessed.
